Can we use split income if we have one income

If you are speaking of splitting your pension income, both you and your spouse/partner would have to complete and file the Canada Revenue Agency's form T1032, Joint Election to split pension income as seen in our TurboTax article: Understanding Pension Income Splitting for Seniors
