canadian working in the US

Hi, I am canadian working in the US and married to US citizen. I have only been to Canada for 1 week in the past year and have no significant ties to Canada other than holding passport. I guess I am considered non-resident for tax purposes? Is that correct? Do I need to do anything to report my non-resident status or I guess it will be evident based on my enter and exit at the border?

Another question is, if I say married it asks for my husband's SIN but he is not Canadian and does not have SIN. What do I do? change to Single for tax purpose? tnx

For your status of residence, you should contact CRA regarding your personal situation. At the same time, you'll be able to ask them about your tax return this year, if you leaved in Canada only for a week.

If you have to file a Canadian tax return, and it's asking you for your spouse SIN, you can enter 111 111 118, but it can impact your ability to NETFILE. If it's the case, you'll have to print and send it by mail.

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
