Do I report world wide income if I was deemed a non-resident starting June 2 2020? I worked in Canada from January to March and received EI during covid

I am working in the USA since June on a J1 visa and have filed USA taxes. I am a citizen but after submitting a determination of status I was deemed a non-resident. I am a bit unsure of how to file out the World Income Section

We appreciate you choosing TurboTax

From inside of your return go to the Find icon at the top right and type INCOME, select INCOME FROM SOURCES OUTSIDE OF CANADA and click on GO.

Here you will be on the STATEMENT OF WORLD INCOME page where you will enter your amounts.

If you have ties to Canada and meet the criteria to be a factual resident. You are considered a resident of the country you live in, which is the USA. By virtue of that country's treaty with Canada, you are deemed a non-resident.  Your filing requirements are the same as those of a non-resident.   Non-Resident of Canada

If you permanently live abroad and have no residential ties to Canada, you are probably considered a non-resident of the country.

  • Non-residents do not need to report world income to the CRA.
  • In contrast, if you receive Canadian income, such as pensions, or if you dispose of capital property in Canada, you must file a return to report your Canadian income.

Additionally, you must file a final return the last year you live in Canada. Report your income as usual, but if you claim any benefits or credits, claim only what you spent in Canada.
