Does 'enter total medical expenses' mean enter the total amount I submitted to my insurance provider? That premium is on my T4.

First line in deductions asks for 'total medical expenses'. Then on each line below, I entered the amount my insurance didn't pay for on a specific claim. Does 'total medical expenses' mean the total of what I entered on the lines below does it mean  the total of all the claims I submitted to my insurance company?

Hi, you can only claim the part of an eligible medical expense that hasn't or will not be reimbursed by your insurance provider. Any covered amount cannot be claimed and shouldn't be included in your return, you can find more information here: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/forms-publications/publications/rc4065/medical-expe...
