Filling up personal information

I came to Canada in August 2018 and stayed in a dorm (paid the rent) until May 2019. It is my first time doing tax filing and I am not sure if I should answer a "yes" or "no" to this question: "Do you need to file your 2017 or 2018 tax return?".  Thank you!

Whether you have to file for 2018 depends on your residency status for that year. If you are unsure of your residency status for 2018, you will need to contact the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and confirm it with them. If you are in Canada or the United States, you can call the CRA at 1-800-959-8281. If you are elsewhere you can call 613-940-8495. This page has more ways to contact the CRA: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/corporate/contact-information/telephone-numbers.html
