How can my husband file his return before me without me having to answer all the questions first?

You would have to prepare your returns separately if you don't want to prepare your return at the same time as your husband. Your husband would still have to enter some of your information on his return.

If you have already started a preparing a return together, then click My Returns > Start A New Return at the top of the left side menu to start one just for your husband.
