I have two T4A’s for self-employed earnings from two different businesses & two T2125. Turbo Tax is lumping the two T4A’s together on one T2125. It shouldn't be combined into one T2125, as CRA will remove all expense under the second T2125, which has no income. How do I get these separated and on their respective T2125’s?
If the 2 T4A's that you have both have amounts showing in Box 48, when you enter the Box 48 information from each T4A slip, there is more than one TurboTax box 48 option available for you to input (one is Business and one is Professional). Choose the box 48 option of each T4A slip in the TurboTax entry field that matches the business schedule that you want it to be entered in.
Neither T4A have amounts in box 48, they both have amounts in box 20. What do I do in this situation?
In this situation, the best you can do is to make an entry in the T2125 business schedule where the wrong Box 20 amount was entered and under the expenses (other expenses) field, make an entry called "Box 20 adjustment" equal to the Box 20 amount entered incorrectly in this T2125. This will net out the amount from this T2125. Then, you can enter manually under "other income" in the second T2125 the amount from the Box 20 that you want to have included in the second T2125. This procedure will arrive at the correct reporting result that you are trying to achieve.
I have a similar problem. Income reported on block 48 of a T4A doesn't appear on the professional T2125. The above states: " there is more than one TurboTax box 48 option available for you to input (one is Business and one is Professional)". I can only see one Block 48 when I enter the T4A data.
In the input field for the T4A slip in TurboTax, the box to the left of Box 48 - Professional is Box 48 - Business. It is up to you to choose which of these two Box 48 options you choose to enter the amount shown in your T4A slip (that is in the slip's box 48).
I have the exact same problem as Dave No - I entered all my consulting income from my T4A box 48 into Turbotax, but none of that income carries forward to the T2125 (the T2125 is blank!). I need to deduct some of my consuling expenses, but since none of my Box 48 amounts is carried into a T2125 - how can I deduct expenses? Despite what TurbotaxRobert says - there is no box to the left of Box 48? This is a serious technical oversight and glitch of Turbotax!
I suspect that this deficiency has to do with using Tubotax Standard. But there is no way I'm going to spend extra $'s to upgrade to the Home Business version just for this one minor issue.
I needed to find a work-around so I called CRA. The agent I talked to had no problem with me completely deleting the T4A entries and instead putting just the total T4A incomes (in our case both block 28 and block 48 amounts) directly in form T2125 (Part 3, line 8230). Of course, you need to add a comment to line 8230 to state what has been done, plus keep the T4A's on file in case CRA potentially has a question down the road. Turbotax Standard can handle this. approach...
Best case would be that Turbotax fixes this annoying issue!!
Ok - I called the Turbotax help line and got it solved Dave No. When I enter my info in Box 48 of my T4A - it does transfer to a T2125. When you go to your Forms option - select T2125 B1 or T2125 P1 - the amount will be in one of those T2125.
Or - you just go via the Easy Steps - and fill in all the expenses, it will magically show up when you hit "print to PDF" for your records.
It worked for me last night.
