I received payment from employer for education completed for my job. They issued a T4A for "other income" (box 048). Do I now need to pay for turbotax self-employed?

I am not self-employed, however in filling out my tax return, TurboTax is saying that it is "required for my tax situation" to purchased TurboTax Self-employed (due to my T4A). Is there a way to bypass this?

If you've entered an amount in box 048 on your T4A slip, then you have what the CRA considers to be self-employment or business income.

You'll need to fill out the self-employment section, where TurboTax will ask additional questions to report the income as self-employment/business income. You only need to answer basic information, such as business name and address (can be your own), industry code, and fiscal period (Jan 01 to December 31).
