Line 23500 error

I am trying to complete my partners taxes but when it comes to entering my spouses additional information I get an error. When I enter net income (line 23600) it says "your spouse's net income (line 23600) should be calculated by subtracting social benefit repayments (line 23500) from their income before adjustments (line 23400) He doesn’t have a line 23500 or 23400 and it won’t let me proceed without putting something there?? This is so frustrating and I’m not sure how to answer this! Any help or guidance on how others have answered this when it’s 0.00 would be appreciated! Thanks

Please try entering the same amount in Net income before adjustment and Net income after adjustment and leaving Social Repayment Benefits at 0, as reported on your tax slip.

Are you using a TurboTax Online version or a TurboTax Desktop version? Is it a single return or a joint return that you are preparing?

I am having the same issue. I am using the turbo tax app on my Android. I am not sure how to proceed. I have filed my return separately, now we are trying to complete his.

Update: I called turbo tax and spoke with someone (2 agents actually). Since I am doing this on my phone using the turbo tax mobile app, the Agent was able to do a screen share. The Agent was not familiar with this kind of error.  I had the phone on speaker so that my wife could verify her information for net income, since that is the only thing that applied to her Tax return. Anyhow, long story short - there was no solution other than being advised to try again another day. I'm thinking maybe a bug in the app? Not sure, but I would really love a solution to this.

I’m doing mine on the desktop and having this error. That’s so frustrating that they think it’s just a bug and do it another day? I dont Want to have to pay 50$ to try to talk to someone and get advice just for them to not have an answer either! Doesn’t seem to be fixed since it’s still coming up after waiting a day or two as well

Goodluck. Looks like I may have to go to some tax office and pay someone an unjustified amount to do what I could have done in 5 mins. Bull. Goodluck!

Tired of waiting for this to be fixed.  Used Turbo Tax for at least 20 years!  Moving on to UFile.

I am also tempted to use Ufile but it looked so much more confusing when i opened It so i havent yet lol! Will call their customer service tomorrow and give an update.

Ufile is definitely not comparable and a PITA for sure but it doesn't seem like Turbo Tax is taking any quick action to resolve the issue.  Us early tax filers are not making a big enough impact, in a months time maybe they will feel the pressure but by then they will have lost all our business.  Thanks for attempting to get some answers.

Figured this out. Enter the same amount on lines 23400 and 23600. Leave the other boxes as 0.

How did you figure out the amount?

Whatever you have on last year’s taxes for line 23600 you enter on line 23500 and 23600. Same amount, cancels everything out and you can proceed.
