In December 2018 my maternity leave ended, but I didn't officially start back in the office until January 2019. For December I claimed my performance bonus for 2018 (approx. $6000) and half my vacation pay (approx. $850). My paystub shows that EI and CPP were deducted. Today I received my T4. It lists only $131.40 in income with no deductions indicated. Is there any way this is correct?
There's really no way for us to advise you if this is correct or not, but it does not sound right that you would receive almost $7,000 and your T4 only shows $131.40. Was the cheque you received for your bonus and vacation pay claimed in 2018 but actually "paid" in 2019?? If "yes", then this could very well be correct.
You should contact your HR or Payroll Dept and inquire into this, they might discover a mistake has been made and can issue you an "amended T4".
