Tried installing CD as in all prior years, sounded like it was transmitting but nothing showed to allow me to enter code

Look for the TurboTax 2018 icon on your desktop or search for it in your Start menu. If you find the icon, try to start the program. If you can’t find it, it may not have installed correctly.
