Trying to file 2017 for 1st time person. CRA has changed rules to allow 1st filing via NETFILE (bec COVID-19). Will TurboTax provide a patch to allow this feature?

TurboTax cannot add a patch to allow First Time Filers to NetFile their returns as this is a CRA restriction that has not been changed due to Covid-19.

As CRA is experiencing significant delays in processing paper income tax and benefit returns, they have introduced temporary measures for T1 paper returns and adjustment requests and are recommending people to submit these returns electronically instead. They are advising people that have already filed a 2019 paper return that has not been processed yet, to file it again online using NetFile. This does not include returns that the software says must be paper-filed or returns that are excluded from electronic filing.
