My kids school changed their computers this year from desktop PC's to MacBook Pro laptops. She's in grade 12 and needs to be able to use a zip drive to bring home school work. We had to buy a MacBook Pro so she can complete her assignments and still have it compatible with the schools system. While a PC laptop is cheap($289) and I was willing to take the loss of a system that is obsolete after 6 months these MacBook's are not($3200). Can I claim the MacBook on my taxes?
