The T1 is the type of income tax return that you are filing. There is no actual T1 slip. You should enter the information from the T4 slip.
the fileds numbers in T4 is different than flieds number shown in turbotax T1 for my kids, which data that i should take from my kids T4?
If you are entering info on the "Tell us about your dependants" then it's asking for Net income from T1 (line 23600) and Total split income (Line 68360 of form T1206, if it applies). Nothing needs to be entered from your child's T4 unless they are not doing a tax return.
Filing our taxes, My kids live at home and go to school. Turbo tax lists them as dependents. They both work, both have T4s, software is asking for T1 information?
@Sft1st If you are entering info on the "Tell us about your dependants" then it's asking for Net income from T1 (line 23600) and Total split income (Line 68360 of form T1206, if it applies). Nothing needs to be entered from your child's T4 unless they are not doing a tax return.
So I just leave those fields blank, I read what it's asking as they don't have T1s
How old are your children?
Please read this TurboTax article which will help you decide on how to claim your children: Summer Jobs and Taxes Part 1 – School-Aged Children (under 18)
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
I have the same issue, daughter who is a dependent and student worked and turbo tax is asking for t1 info when she has t4. From your response it says to leave those 2 fields blank, when I do it gives a warning on the field that asks if her income is zero. So do I say her income is zero? This is so confusing.
@Sil09 The T1 is a tax return. The T4 is an income slip. If your child is going to submit a tax return your would get the numbers needed from their tax return. Since your child is a student, they would need to submit a tax return to claim the tuition credit, and also to be able to transfer any tuition to you or someone else. So, you can just put in an estimate for now, and get the correct number from your child's return.
