Income splitting – sometimes referred to as "income sprinkling" – is a strategy that can be used by high-income owners of private corporations to divert their income to family members with lower personal tax rates. The CRA doesn't like this.

This is not to be confused with pension splitting, where you can split certain pension income with a spouse or common-law partner. This is acceptable to the CRA.
