I seem to be getting conflicting answers on the site about how to deal with my child's T4A(P) slip. It is their only income/benefit. Do I:
1. File a separate return for him?
2. Just ignore it, as it is very little income?
3. Add it to the Deductions -> Additional Dependant Info -> Net Income? This doesn't seems right as it references that I would have a T1 for him.
Please advise
You do not need to file a separate tax return for a child who receives a T4A(P) slip. (Only if they had other income from say a part-time job, would you file a tax return for them.)
Add this income as the child's income by going to > Deductions -> Additional Dependant Info -> Net Income. No T1 is needed for the child to add this income there, and only if you are a single parent making a claim for the Eligible Dependant Amount for one of your children will the addition of this income have any effect on your own tax return.
