I want to adjust the tuition amount used on my taxes to reduce my taxes to zero so I can transfer more to parents. I currently show a refund, so I want to adjust it. How?
CRA requires that you apply as much tuition as it takes to reduce your tax owing to zero. The amount cannot be adjusted. After you've completed your return, have a look at the Schedule 11 to see the amount of tuition you have that's eligible for transfer. Your parents will also need certain numbers from your return to complete the transfer if you do have eligible transfer amounts.
