Can TurboTax for tax year 2016 automatically transfer information (personal details, carry forward amounts etc.) from my tax year 2015 return?

Yes, you might be able to transfer information, but it depends on whether you used TurboTax to do your 2015 tax return and which TurboTax product (Standard, Premier, Home and Business etc.) and edition (online or CD/download) you are using to do your 2016 tax return.

If you used any software other than TurboTax to do your 2015 tax return, TurboTax is not able to automatically transfer your information.

Also, TurboTax for a certain tax year can transfer information only from the immediately preceding tax year. For example, TurboTax for tax year 2016 can only transfer information from your 2015 tax return.

The tables below indicate whether specific editions and versions of TurboTax for the tax year 2016 can automatically transfer your information from your 2015 tax return.
