Before you begin, register for My Account
If you’d like to use CRA’s Auto-fill my return service to automatically fill out part of your tax return, you need to be registered for Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)’s My Account.
Note: You do not have to use Auto-fill my return to complete your tax return.
Service availability
CRA’s Auto-fill service opens for the 2020 tax year on February 22, 2021.
How to use Auto-fill my return in EasyStep mode (recommended for all users)
- In the upper-right area of TurboTax, select Find. Note: The Find button is visible once you've completed the Introduction and Profile sections of your return. If you don't see it, go back to those sections and enter all your information.
- In the Find field, type “CRA.”
- From the list of results, select CRA Import, then select Go. (Quebec residents: select CRA and RQ Import, then select Go). *This feature will only be available as of February 22, 2021.
- This takes you to the [NAME], let’s get a jump-start by downloading your tax info into your return step.
- Select Import next to the return you want to download your tax information for.
- Follow the instructions to download your slips and other information.
How to use Auto-fill my return in Forms method (recommended for advanced users)
- From the File menu up top, select File.
- Select Import tax data from CRA/RQ.
This takes you to the Name, let’s get a jump-start by downloading your tax info into your return step. *This feature will only be available as of February 22, 2021.
- Select Import next to the return you want to download your tax information for.
- Follow the instructions to download your slips and other information.
