Where do I add rent received from a roommate who lived in my basement, also my primary residence. Where do I enter receipts for my house expenses relating to roommate?

1.  Select Income > Rental Properties from the Navigation menu

2.  Enter the address and other pertinent information including gross rents

3.  In the expenses section claim only the percentage of the house expenses (utilities, property taxes, mortgage interest etc) for the basement apartment that you have rented out.  You can determine the percentage share for the basement by dividing the square footage of the apartment by the total square footage of your home.
