As an international student who made a trip back home, am I a Canadian resident or factual resident even though I was in Canada for more than 183 days for studies?

If I travelled to another province for December-Jan holidays, so I must say that as of Dec 31st I lived in my province because that is my area of residence even though I was out of that province for a visit yes?

This Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) page can help you determine if you are a resident for tax purposes: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/international-non-residents/information-been-moved/determining-your-residency-status.html
