Can I claim a portion of a dumpster rental as an expense on my rental property?

Can I claim a portion of the dumpster rental? I replaced my shed and rented a dumpster. Can the dumpster be used as part of my expenses for my rental.

I rent out the basement apartment.

It depends. If the shed is being used by your rental property / tenants, then yes you can deduct the expenses for the dumpster rental. But if you are renting out a basement apartment, but the shed is being used by you then the dumpster rental will not qualify as an expense on your rental property.
