Can I claim for any part of the costs of renovating a house? I'm thinking particularly about having had the attic insulated and buying more efficient furnace and AC unit.

I moved into a house last year and it needed a complete overhaul. I'm hoping something might be tax deductible. The work included new floors, new AC unit, new furnace, attic insulation, some electrical work and a new bathroom.

Unfortunately, you can not claim the cost of routine repair and maintenance, such as attic insulation, furnace, or air conditioning unit in your 2021 tax file because these expenses are not eligible to be claimed.
