The credit "has" to be applied for, TurboTax does not automatically add the credit as you need to answer the questions required by CRA to make the correct calculations for each individual's situation.
If you have completed the interview regarding the CAI in the Provincial section, you should see your available credit on Line 449 of your Detailed Tax Summary. This amount is added to your total refund.
