Do I need a specific TFSA account to have tax-free investment income from trading stocks?

Yes, you would have to open a TFSA account at a brokerage that deals with trading stocks.

You can also set up a TFSA account at any bank or with any investor that deals in stocks or mutual funds.

yes, you will need to register TFSA account from your bank or trading platform.
