Do I need to report income and paid taxes I had before moving to Canada? Example: Worked in Australia for 6 months (same tax year) and then moved to Canada for a job.

Foreign income earned prior to arriving in Canada. We want to know about your World Income. It boils down to whether you get a full year or is it prorated from your date of entry. You will not be taxed twice on your income from home, under the tax treaty Canada has with Australia, and it is taxed at source, you should file for Foreign Tax Credit.

Look for the "Find" icon at the top right corner of your screen and type on Foreign Tax Credit, this will bring up the form needed to fill out to ensure you are not double taxed.
