Hello, I have a T5 for an investment account in USD (but open in a canadian institution). how do i change the currency on Turbotax to show the amount is in USD not CAD?

You need to convert the amounts on your T5 into CAD.

You can get exchange rates from the Bank of Canada's website: https://www.bankofcanada.ca/rates/exchange/
