Hi there,

In the Sale of your Principal Residence screen under How long were you living at your principal residence? there is a dropdown to select whether it was your principal residence for All the years owned or Some of the years owned. You will need to select for Some of the years owned which will then allow you to select on the following screen, Designation of a property as a Principal Residence, which will allow you to specify:

How many years did you own the property?

How many years was it your principal residence?

This will then determine the Federal capital gain/loss based on the values input.
