How do I put my rent assist benefit if I don't have rent receipts from my landlord?

My previous landlord in Dauphin did not give me receipts whenever I pay the rent. When I applied for rent assist here in Manitoba,  he just filled out the form for the landlords because his lease contract does not provide complete details of the rent. Recently, I found out he passed away so I don't know how can I get a copy of my payments from him. I moved to Portage la Prairie and I was trying to contact him until I found out he passed away so I don't know how to put it in filing my income tax.

You would have to contact the CRA and see if they would take something else as proof that you paid rent. You can call them at 1-800-959-8281.
