If both my parents live in different rooms of the same personal care home, do they live in the same principal residence, or do they live appart for medical reasons?

If together, is the rent they each pay combined for the purposes of rent paid, and claimed by one of them? Or, can they each claim their own rent? If They are considered living apart, do they each claim their own rent?

Per the CRA, because they pay separately, they are considered to live apart for medical reasons. Because they pay separately, and rent is not defined in the payment, they can each claim 50% of their payment as rent for the purpose of the Manitoba Educational Property tax.
