Processing return for deceased who was living in a rental property, do we need to complete a T1255?

Our mother passed away in 2017 and had lived in an apartment (rental) for about 18 years.  So hasn't owned a property for over 18 years.  The apartment would have been her principal residence. Using TurboTax to process the return, and it seems to be forcing the completion of T1255.  Is this form necessary?

No, it's not necessary in her case. It sounds like you may have answered yes to the question Did you dispose of a property in 2017, that was your principal residence for any of the period that you owned it? when you should have answered no.

This question appears in the Setting Up section of online editions of TurboTax and in the PROFILE section in cd/download editions.
