What kind of tax resident am I in Canada if I am a tax resident in Portugal, but not a permanent resident yet?

All of my income is from either Canadian or US sources and I have no income from any European country, including Portugal.

Hi, thank you for using Intuit turbotax Live Community

Canada requires residents to file a tax return reporting their world wide income. The question what is a resident can be difficult to answer. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has information on determining your residency status:

https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/international-non-residents/information-been-moved/determining-your-residency-status.html

To make things more complicated there are situations where CRA will determine a tax payer is a non resident of Canada on would therefore have different filing requirements from a resident of Canada.  Look at this link and Deemed non-resident:

https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/international-non-residents/film-media-tax-credits/residency-status-determination.html

Determining residency status for tax purposes is a complicated process. Hopefully after reviewing the information in the links above you can get an answer .

Hope this helps
