Are you entering rent to claim a provincial credit like the Ontario Trillium Benefit?

You'll find the spot for your rent in the Provincial section of your return.

Rent paid in and of itself is not a tax deduction.

But, there are some credits/benefits that are calculated based on one's rent or property tax paid, like the Ontario Trillium Benefit, Manitoba’s Education Property Tax Credit or if you work from a home office.

If you might qualify for any of these credits, TurboTax will prompt you to enter your rent paid in the right spots in your return.
