Is there a way where I don't have to add my spouse in the tax return? Yes, I am married, but he doesn't live in Canada; he has never been in Canada whatsoever.

You do have to state your marital status as married even if your spouse is not in Canada.  You can use 000 000 000 as a Social Insurance number if your spouse does not have one and enter zero as the income.
