Remember your audience.
From first time filers to professional tax preparers to software experts, AnswerXchange has a wide range of users. Before posting a reply, ensure that the terminology you've used matches the level used by the asker.
Use bold font to emphasize a particular point.
Rather than using full capitalization of a word, phrase or sentence, underline or bold the words you want to emphasize. Caps can be perceived as shouting.
Use a supporting link when appropriate.
If you're answering a tax question, include the relevant CRA link for more information. For questions about TurboTax software, link to a TurboTax FAQ.
Report Anything Suspicious or Dangerous
Help us keep the Community honest, tolerant and considerate. If you see anything suspicious or dangerous, click the "Report to a Moderator" link or "Report This" button on the applicable post and confidentially tell us about any offending messages.
If you notice that a user has posted personal information (or attachments containing personal information) such as Social Insurance Numbers, phone numbers, etc. please report the post ASAP.
Don't post personal information.
Our Community is open to the public. Do not post any personal details such as your Social Insurance Number, email address, or phone number.
Don't use inappropriate language.
Abusive, threating, profane, offensive or degrading language will not be tolerated.
Don't be afraid to ask.
