The Ontario Ministry of Finance – Ontario Trillium Benefit is a benefit payment, delivered monthly, that combines the payments of the Ontario Sales Tax Credit, Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit (OEPTC), and Northern Ontario Energy Credit. It's intended to help people pay for energy costs while providing relief on sales and property taxes.
In prior years, the Ontario provincial return showed a credit received for rent/property tax paid. The OEPTC is now sent as part of the new Trillium Benefit to qualifying individuals on a monthly basis.
