Rollover Pretax 457b funds to Roth IRA

I wanted to rollover the 457b pre-tax funds from my previous employer into my bank's Roth IRA; I thought that the pre-tax 457b funds had undergone a Roth conversion, but it turns out it didn't. Due to some miscommunication between the bank and the company with the 457b plan, the 457b pre-tax funds ended up being deposited into my Roth IRA.

What is the next solution I should do? Since the bank deposited the pre-tax funds as a rollover contribution, are they going to send me a tax form taxing me on the money? DO I need to take the funds out of the account and put it into a traditional IRA and then convert the funds before putting it into the ROth IRA? I originally wanted the 457b funds to go into my Roth IRA, but now that they went into the IRA pre-tax, I don't know if there will be some complications.

I purchased a rental property in my own name and traveled multiple times to inspect the property, oversee repairs, and coordinate work related to preparing/managing the rental.

The airfare tickets were charged to a credit card account where my mother is the primary account holder and I am an authorized user. She ultimately paid the credit card bill, and I do not have a formal reimbursement record.

For tax purposes, does the IRS generally care who actually paid the credit card bill, assuming the travel itself was genuinely for rental/property activities?

I understand trips related to acquiring/preparing the property may be treated differently from later property-management travel, but my main question is whether payment by a family member (on a card where I am an authorized user) creates an issue for claiming the expense.

I see... It's a little confusing. I think TurboTax filed the return because of the part-year residence aspect, but it zeroed the tax liability because of the income threshold. Now that I read your response, I can see how local/county taxes are not directly linked to the state tax.

So, I guess the next question is whether part-year residence or the income threshold is the deciding factor for filing. And then whether it is possible to retract the return.

Since only your spouse is in New York and you are a nonresident of New York, you do have the option of filing separately in New York. However, if you are using TurboTax Online, you will have to create a mock federal return to prepare the separate New York state return but you would only file the state return. You would need to mail it as well.

Yes, if you didn't have state withholding in your paycheck and you income is below the filing threshold, then you aren't required to file. For dependent taxpayers under 65, the MD gross income threshold for 2025 is $15,570.
Generally, you are required to file a Maryland income tax return if:

You are or were a Maryland resident;

You are required to file a federal income tax return; and

Your Maryland gross income equals or exceeds the level for your filing status. The filing levels also apply to nonresident taxpayers who are required to file a Maryland return.

Do I have to file a Maryland Income Tax Return?

As for the local/county taxes, just because your state tax liability is zero doesn't mean that your local/county tax will be zero too. Local and county taxes aren't a percentage of your state tax liability. Instead, in Maryland, the local income tax is calculated as a percentage of your taxable net income. Maryland Local Income Tax Rates

TurboTax will prepare your tax returns based upon the information you entered in the return. If you lived in 2 states during the year, you would need to indicate in the Personal Info section your residency dates for both states so TurboTax knows to complete both returns.

Please see How do I file a part-year state return? for steps to take to prepare both returns.

Since you have already filed your Ohio return, you may need to amend it as you would need to allocate the income based upon your state of residency when you earned the income. Please see How do I amend my state tax return? to start the amendment for Ohio. Once you are in the amended return, go ahead and add Georgia and prepare your Georgia return. Again, be sure to indicate the dates of residency in the Personal info section and for each state. Then you can amend the Ohio return so it only includes income earned while you lived in Ohio. You will be prompted in the interview section for each state to allocate your income.

Since your payments were out of pocket and never deducted on a tax return you would not have to report the settlement income on a tax return.

Unfortunately, TurboTax does not support Form AR1000-DD as it needs to be completed by a licensed physician, a licensed psychologist, or a licensed psychological examiner. You will need to download and complete this form, then attach it to your Arkansas tax return and mail.

Re: T5008 download issue

Adding one summary T5008 is the easy part. Getting rid of the 100's of individual slips is aggravating part and it is a simple fix in the software:

1. Allow mass "Income Type" and "date of disposition" entries, OR

2. Fix the delete function during the CRA download ... delete doesn't delete, OR

3. At least make the individual slip delete process ONE click instead of click here then there.

And to answer my own question, can't Netfile with the warning for T5008's still there. Print and mail only.

I would like to know if this problem will be addressed for 2026 ... it will be a factor in tax software selection.
