      <title>How To Enter Vehicle Expense Compensation</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi Everyone,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;I’m trying to help a friend with their taxes. &amp;nbsp;Usually I can figure these things out but this one has me puzzled. &amp;nbsp;I have entered her T4 and Releve slip. &amp;nbsp; She works for Canada Post and also received a form for expenses. &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;She pays for her own fuel and gets reimbursed per km travelled. The form is called Declaration of conditions of employment. &amp;nbsp;It is checked that her contract requires her to pay their own expenses. Then in the next section, motor vehicle travel and other expenses in part 8 it shows the rate per km and then the amount given.&amp;nbsp;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I started to enter it but am not sure how to do it. It seems like it should be easy but there are so many sections I’m not sure exactly what to do m&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I’m hoping there’s a simple answer that someone can point me to.&amp;nbsp;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;thanks for the help&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;TurboTax will not allow the Caregiver Tax Credit for Quebec returns for spouses of individuals who do not declare a disability.&amp;nbsp; In addition, the Quebec return it will not allow for the individual with a disability not to declare the disability tax credit (i.e. transfer the credit to a daughter)&amp;nbsp; unless they declare that they are not disabled.&amp;nbsp; If you declared that you are disabled this does not allow your spouse to declare a Caregiver tax credit.&amp;nbsp; I seem to be stuck in an endless loop.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hello,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;In 2025 year I lived in Ontario and worked for a Quebec company remotely.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I paid RRQ RQAP to the Quebec government.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;To get a reimbursement, I need to file a&amp;nbsp; Releve 1 (R1).&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I need help on how to do this. In the Q&amp;amp;A section they say to Add a T4A pension and then go to R1. This does not work for me. I can not find RELEVE 1 (R1) any where?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I need some help, step by step if possible.       <title>QPP2 contribution without QPP</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I work for the federal government and my place of work changed partway through the year from ON to QC, so they issued 2 different T4s. The first one, from ON, includes the maximum CPP contribution and part of CPP2. After my place of work changed to QC, I paid the balance of my additional contribution to QPP2. So the QC T4 and its associated RL1 show a QPP2 contribution with no QPP contribution. This is not an error; it is exactly as it should be.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The software however treats it as an error and will not let me enter QPP2 without QPP. After a full hour on the phone with your tech support, I received this:&amp;nbsp;"This is not a software issue, because if you have a 2nd contribution (box 16A/17A), you should logically have a 1st contribution (box 16/17). Technically, both amount should be on the same T4. If the last version of your T4 on your CRA My Account is not with box 16/17 and box 16A/17A on the same slip, we suggest you to contact CRA to see if you can combine both T4s together to have only 1 but with all the amount reflecting your tax year."&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;This demonstrates a troubling misunderstanding of the tax rules. And i cannot combine the two slips, because the province of work in box 10 is different. The software needs to be modified to allow for this situation.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <title>Medical Expense Tip for Quebec</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Just a tip for Quebec Residents:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Turbo Tax always tells me that my medical expenses must exceed a certain threshold (3% of family income) before qualifying for a deduction.&amp;nbsp; It is always a good idea to enter medical expenses even if they are nowhere near the 3%.&amp;nbsp; I have been surprised that even $100 of medical expense results in a small credit on Quebec taxes.&amp;nbsp; The reason is that in Quebec Employer Paid private medical plan fees are taxable by Revenu Quebec&amp;nbsp; but the amount can also be claimed as a deduction and it counts toward the 3% threshold.&amp;nbsp; A good employer&amp;nbsp; paid medical plan can cost $2000 per year and that covers the 3% of $65,000 income.&amp;nbsp; The amount appears on the RL-1 form (Item J) and Turbo tax automatically calculates the credit but we have to ignore the messages about not exceeding the 3% (because the amount should not be entered as a receipt if it is already on the RL-1).&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <title>TurboTax not generating a Quebec Schedule S</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hello All -&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;First time filing in Quebec.&amp;nbsp; Same for our university age son.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Our son had income from an internship.&amp;nbsp; His Quebec tax bill was reduced to zero without needing to use university tuition.&amp;nbsp; After filing, we learned that his return should have a Schedule S - which enables him to specify how much tuition to transfer to a parent.&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;For some reason, TurboTax is did not generate this.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Question 1: We'll need to have our son file an Amended Return which includes a Schedule S.&amp;nbsp; How might we do this?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;My sense is that in Quebec, this may have to be a paper submission after filing electronically for the first time? He tried to get into his Quebec account (similar to the CRA's "My Account") but the Quebec portal says it does not know anything about him.&amp;nbsp; (Perhaps the account is manually created when they process the first return filed in Quebec?)&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Question 2: Any idea why TurboTax did not generate a Schedule S for our son?&amp;nbsp; As noted, this is his first year filing.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Question 3: Schedule C is odd.&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; I'm going to share specific figures, but it's in no way putting our son's financial credibility at risk.&amp;nbsp; There is a prefilled amount in line 2 that is 6,012.&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;One line 4 we enter the tuition amount taken from Box A of Quebec slip RL-8.&amp;nbsp; That figure is 7,646.&amp;nbsp; We add those together on line 6 to get $13,658.&amp;nbsp; On line 14, we entered his income taken from line 299 of his TP1.&amp;nbsp; That figure is $15,757.&amp;nbsp; On line 16, we calculate the amount to transfer by subtracting line 14 (15,757) from line 6 (13,658). This gives us a value of -2099. The form says to assign a value of 0 to line 16 if the value is negative. This means that none of the $7,646 is available to be transferred to a parent.&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;This is illogical because on his TP1, it clearly shows that his tax bill was eliminated entirely without using this tuition.&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;Chat has told me to ignore this and enter $7646 into line 16, but I'm skeptical. This said, the full amount should be available.&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks in advance for any insight into these three question,&lt;BR /&gt;Best,&lt;BR /&gt;Patrick&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I'm having a problem with netfiling for Quebec (TY2024). &lt;P&gt;When going through the review section, the amount claimed for the taxable capital gains deduction is greater than the amount of capital gains reported, or there is no eligible capital gain for this deduction. This makes the return ineligible for NETFILE Québec.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;To work around this error, input $1 on line 58 of Schedule G to clear this validation&lt;/P&gt;

      <title>Quebec Instant $4000 Credit</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi Everyone,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; I have been using TurboTax for years and love it. &amp;nbsp;A couple of years ago I started doing my parents taxes. &amp;nbsp;Every year I do an import from the previous year to make things a bit easier.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp; This year, when I started my parents returns it was already showing a $4000 refund for my father. &amp;nbsp;I was sure that there was an error. &amp;nbsp;I completed them thinking it would fix it but it basically stayed the same.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;After looking through the forms I saw on Quebec TP1 line 463 there was the $4000 credit. I tried restarting just to verify I didn't accidentally enter something and right away there was the credit again.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Doing a quick search it seems to be a credit if they are both over 70, which they are&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I just was hoping someone could tell me if this is ok to claim? &amp;nbsp;I would love to get them a nice refund, but I don't want them having to pay it back either. &amp;nbsp;I'm not sure if this is new?&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I'd just like to know if someone had experience with this and if I should file like this? &amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If it was for me it would be one thing, but am nervous claiming for them.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Any help is appreciated, thanks&lt;/P&gt;</description>
