Please verify that you have answered the question correctly at the beginning of the interview as seen in the images below. If you have previously filed a return before, you need to click on NO.

TURBOTAX ONLINE - You will find this by going in the left menu and clicking on My Info then ___Canadian citizenship to then open this screen. Make sure to click Continue at the bottom of the screen to save your change.

If you have sent the CRA information about her income for the past 2 years they may have her information on file and consider it as being an income tax filed. Go back and update your answer for your wife saying that this is not her first time filing, and it should be fine. We advise you to contact the CRA at 1-800-959-8281 to see what they advise you and you can let us know.

I'm 19 and this is the first time I file my taxes using to CRA. My mom did it for me last year and it was after she finishing filing for me that I got my CRA account. But when I try to submit my taxes it says error 32, can you help me with this problem?

@aaariaaa If your mom submitted a return for you in the past, then you've already filed a return with the CRA. Please see Ginette's post above to see how to go back and change your answer.

@juanesarroyave Error code 32 from is CRA could be for these reasons There is a social insurance number (SIN) on line 55295 on the Schedule 5 and one of the following situations applies to your client’s return:

The dependent's SIN is not valid.
The dependent's SIN and your client’s or their spouse’s or common-law partner’s SIN are the same

Please check if that applies to her. Also, If this is her first time filing with CRA and CRA doesn't have any information for her, she might not be eligible to Netfile. You have to choose an option to Print to Mail in TurboTax and mail out her return to CRA - Where to mail your paper T1 return.

Hi, I am receiving the same code (32) when trying to NETFILE, although it's my first time filing. I did apply for a gst/hst credits and received them for 2024-25. Do you think this counts as filing? Thanks in advance!

@Mary_1478 Could you please go back to the Tax Profile > Mandatory Questions and make sure that you have answered NO to the question "Is this your first tax return being filed with the CRA?

I keep getting this code, I have checked “No” in the box where it asked if it was my first time (I didn’t have to change it, this was originally checked), and this was for 2023.

I put 2024 through at the same time and it went through fine. So 2024 is in, while I have to mail 2023?

if anyone can provide a solution. I have waited 24 hours and tried a second time also, and that did not help.

I have received my NOA for 2024 and it will be deposited. No problems netfiling.

It’s ok I’ve already done both and tried different services, and now have to contact CRA for lockout issues.

Maybe it’s just the older software not connecting to netfile? I never had the box checked that I was a new user right from the beginning. I had it checked that I’m a returning user so it has to be the software. I’m just letting you know in case somebody else has the same issue and you can look into it better.

No problem. 2023 is not netfiled yet, but I’ll call them eventually. I have already called them with no help, and am only trying other avenues before I call again. That is why I came here.
