If you're having trouble activating TurboTax Desktop in 2018 or prior years, follow these steps:

Install and open TurboTax Desktop.
Enter the installation key, then select Next.
When asked to choose your activation method, select Automated Telephone Activation, then Next.
In the new window, you'll see the installation and computer keys. Write down these codes for later use, then close the window.
Call TurboTax support or download the activation tool here.
Open the TurboTax Canada Activation tool.
Select the tax year, enter the installation and computer key codes, then select Activate.
Once you've received the successful activation pop-up, close the activation tool and open TurboTax Desktop.
