Turbotax wants to charge me for two self-employed returns if we file together. But my wife is not self employed. If we file separately will we still get the benefits of joint filing?

In Canada, you must file individual tax returns, but coupling them in TurboTax maximizes credits. You will be charged for the same version that you are using to prepare your returns if you file a joint return. You can always choose to prepare separate returns using two different versions, but you do have to enter information manually.

@TurboTaxAniqua So why am I charged double online for our two returns, but if I buy the desktop version I get up to 12 returns for the price I would pay for 1 Self-employed return, and I can do my self employed return and my wife’s standard return with the Home and Business version? And why do you not have a Mac version for the desktop?

You must pay for each online (DIY) return as specified on our website. Regretfully, there isn't a Mac-compatible desktop version available. Online 8 or 12 return packages are always available from retailers like Amazon, Costco, and Best Buy. We don't sell it on our website; it's a retail product.
