The CRA classifies Box 048 as Self-Employment Income, and TurboTax is set up to "push" that amount into a T2125 (Statement of Business or Professional Activities). If you manually enter income into the business section after it has been imported from your T4A, the software will count it twice.

To correct this and ensure you only report the income once (while still claiming expenses), follow these steps:

The goal is to link the T4A slip to your business profile so that the income flows through properly without being doubled.

Go to the Income section and find your T4A slip.

Ensure the amount is in Box 048.

Look for a dropdown menu or a checkbox on that same T4A entry page that asks which Business this income belongs to. If you haven't created a business profile yet, you’ll need to do that first.

Go to the Self-Employment (T2125) section:

Search for "Self-Employment" or "T2125" using the Find tool (magnifying glass).

When you get to the Income/Revenue page for your business, do not type the T4A amount into the "Gross Sales" or "Professional Fees" box.

Instead, look for a line that says "T4A - Self-employment income" or "Income from T4A slips." TurboTax should have already "carried" the amount from your T4A slip to this line.

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

I received a T4A for professional services rendered. As I uploaded my data from CRA, it went into my income section BUT it also prompts me to input it in my self employment. How do I do that without it showing up as a double income?
