topic Should I remove the Disability Amount credit from my deductions upon my son's DTC expiring? in Credits and deductions

My son's Disability Tax Credit expired in 2024 and we didn't reapply. Turbo tax seems to autofill the Disability Amount and the Caregiver Amounts based on carry over from previous years. Should I be manually removing these credits somehow???

Yes, if you no longer have the DTC for your son, you will need to remove it from your return.

In TurboTax Online

Open your tax return and go to the Deduction section

Click on "Additional dependent information."

On the bottom of the page you will see Does (name) qualify for the disability tax credit? Here you will now put NO.

Continue as you go through be sure that you say no, that you do not want to claim any other credit.

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
