TurboTax Online - Auto-fill feature

Can you please advise how to find the auto fill feature on the new 2024 Turbo Tax Online?

I appreciate that we can't use auto fill until late February 2025, but once available by CRA, how can we find it and use it on Turbo Tax online.

When you'll start your 2024 return in TurboTax Online, you'll have, on the left, "Tax Home". This will be your main section where you'll have to navigate and create your tax return. From "start a new return" and by following the recommended steps, one by one, you'll be invited to use Auto-fill after you enter your personal info and right before your tax profile (see screenshot).

So I do remember being asked to import last year details which I did. However, I would like to do another import towards end of February 2025 once the T4 and RRSP details are uploaded by CRA.

I’m unsure how to do another import as I don’t see the option anymore ? Will I have to start a new return from scratch ?

Just to clarify, I was actually asked to ‘transfer’ details from last year, not import.

I didn’t get the import option. I started a new return as a test but still did not get the import option.

Transfer information feature is to transfer your previous year tax return if you have used TurboTax software last year.

Import option is there to import information directly from CRA by logging into your CRA account, However that service is not available yet by CRA. It will be available by the end of February 2025.

@Rodent1066 Yes, you can redo Auto-Fill, if you want, at the end of February 2025. You will have to follow the same instruction we gave previously in screenshots.

Just make sure to always verify you don't have any T-Slip in double and all the information on them is accurate.

I am using Turbo Tax Premier 2024, and I do not see this Auto-fill feature. I imported my 2023 return, followed the steps carefully, and upon T4 forms, it did not give me the option to log in to CRA account. i have done this twice already and same result. Can you please clarify if this feature is still avilable, and if so, how do we enable it? I recall all previous version did not need do anything..This is very strange.

@lindazha The Auto-fill my return service is not unavailable available at the moment. The service will start on February 10, 2025. We invite you to consult this CRA webpage for more information on the scheduled maintenance.

There is no option for auto-fill in the 2024 version. Does this mean after Feb 10 there will be an option in Turbo Tax to select this option. I have hundreds of T5008s to enter ,and without auto-fill I will find another Tax package.

@Rodent1066 At this moment, Auto-fill is closed for maintenance from CRA. This is not something under our control. After February 10th, the option should be back in your software.

Thanks, I understand the CRA being unavailable, but as long as I get the option in Turbo Tax after bFeb 10 I will be happy.

Its April 3rd 2025 and the auto-fill from CRA feature never appears ever when I start my Tax return. I restarted 5-6 times from scratch and it never comes up.

I am also unable to find the auto fill feature. I somehow managed to autofill for myself, but cannot find the option to do it for my spouse (I am submitting for both of us). Why is the feature so hard to find?

@urbouser8905 If you are preparing your returns together and are using TurboTax Online 2024, you can switch between spouses by clicking on the names at the top of the page.
