Unable to install Turbo Tax 2024

When I try to install Turbo Tax 2024, I get a message saying Turbo Tax cannot be installed on my computer with a message that Turbo Tax doe not work on Windows 8. My computer has Windows 10 installed from the time that I purchased it. As a result I cannot install Turbo Tax. I have checked to make sure my computer is up to date, so I don't know what to do next. I could not install either through the link or through the web site. I neeed some help in resolving this issue.

If TurboTax is recognizing your computer as WIN 8, it is possible that you need to do a Windows update on your computer and try again.

Referring in me to Microsoft was absolutely useless. Microsoft's phone response system is awful and when talking to an agent, the call was dropped twice.

Another urbo Tax agent helped me solve the problem.

I don't want to upgrade my pc to Windows 11. It has Windows 8.1. I purchased Turbotax Standard and it won't let me install without upgrading my computer to Windows 11. Why doesn't the packaging say that? I would not have purchased this if I knew this. Can I use this for Turbotax Online?

@GarryJacobson Packaging does state the system requirements to download the software.

The codes for TurboTax Download will not work with TurboTax Online & vice-versa. If you bought the wrong version, you can get a refund and then buy the one you need.

If you bought TurboTax Desktop from a 3rd party retailer (ex: Costco, Staples, Walmart), please use this form to get a refund.

Installs but cannot open as Windows 8. Window 10 is installed on my computer

Refer to What are the Windows requirements for TurboTax Desktop?

For installation issues, make sure you are following these points:

You have the administrator rights on the profile you are installing TurboTax on

You are not trying to install on a cloud

Turn off your antivirus software and Windows Defender, before installation
