2021 was year of death for my mom and we know we can claim 2 yrs of unclaimed med. expenses. Can my dad claim 2 years back on 2022 return as well, or just 1? Thanks

originally i thought we could split as such, thinking for deceased spouse you can always claim 2 years back:
on 2021 taxes claim 2019-2020 expenses
on 2022 taxes (for dad only) claim 2020-2021 expenses
However... now if only 2 years is acceptable in year of death then i'm inclined to claim as such: (date of death 5/2021)
2021 taxes : 5/2019-12/2020
2022 taxes for dad only: 01/21-01/22 for rolling 12 month period
Is this acceptable?

Sorry for your loss. As per Canada Revenue Agency: Period for which you can claim these expenses: You can claim eligible medical expenses paid in any 12-month period ending in 2021 and not claimed by you or anyone else in 2020. For a person who died in 2021, a claim can be made for expenses paid in any 24-month period that includes the date of death if the expenses were not claimed for any other year.
