Can I claim moving expenses after I got fired?

I have been working in a company for a few years and I was offered a promotion that I have immediately started. I started commuting and then I was forced to move my family closer to this job. I was promised that all real estate fees and moving expenses will be paid to me after I move. Once I have sold my house and purchased another one, I got fired. As it usually takes a few months for the closing date to take place, the actual move-in date is after I got fired. Can I claim moving expenses in this case?

Did you earn income at the new location?

Yes, I have been earning income since the promotion and while I was commuting until I was let go.

I want to say yes because you moved there for work and if you can prove it then I can’t see why the CRA would reject it, but this will be determined by answering the question on the following link from the CRA https://bit.ly/2HuHeyT

Keep a detailed record of your time at the new location with income earned. There should be no issues with the expense being claimed.
