Do I claim a dental claim that the insurance has paid but we have not as of yet?

Last year my daughter had work done and the dentist put a claim into the insurance company.  They covered only $53.60 of the $197.00 because the limit of coverage had been reached.  The rest was paid in 2018 by me so should I wait to put this amount through until my 2018 income tax?

Enter the amount you paid in 2018 on next year's return.

From CRA:

You can claim only eligible medical expenses on your tax return if you, or your spouse or common-law partner:

  • paid for the medical expenses in any 12-month period ending in 2017
