Do I have to claim the full CCA percentage or can I spread it out over a longer period

The CCA rate class for my item is 40%  Can I claim 20% instead every year?  Or 15% one year and then 40% the next year and so on or does it have to be consistent?

You can claim any amount for CCA you want, including 0, as long as it does not exceed the prescribed rate - 40% in your case, and the amount or percentage can be varied from year to year, again as long as you do not exceed the prescribed rate in any given year.  For more info please see http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/bsnss/tpcs/slprtnr/rprtng/cptl/thngs-eng.html

Thank you.  I was looking at my previous year and it had filled in 40% automatically even though I had only taken 20%.  It confused me as I couldn't remember what I had done.  Turns out the percent box is locked so I couln't change it to reflect the percentage I used
