As a clown by CRA definition, you are an entertainer who is a professional stage performer or performing artist who uses their creative talent and imagination for form or effect.

If you are self-employed or do contract work you would use the T2125 form and enter your income and business expenses.

You will be able to deduct the following if you are self-employed:

  • Advertising fees, Start-up costs (including interest and fees on money borrowed for your business), Delivery or shipping costs, Legal, accounting and similar professional fees, Office supplies, Telephone, Mobile phone, and Internet (were used for business), Utility costs, TurboTax software, vehicle expenses, etc.

Here is a great tax tip sheet to guide you on what expenses you can claim, and this FAQ will show you how to enter your expenses when using TurboTax Online and furthermore, this FAQ will show you how to enter your business expenses when using TurboTax CD/download.
